Osi Trubarjeve misli

Čeprav je bilo delo reformatorja Primoža Trubarja doslej deležno velike raziskovalne pozornosti, so njegove temeljne misli ostajale zastrte; prekrile so jih aprioristične sodbe.

The axes of Trubar's thought

Although the work of the Reformation thinker Primož Trubar has to date received a great deal of research attention, his underlying thoughts have remained shrouded: they have been concealed by prior judgement. Because Trubar could not boast a university education, his intellectual efforts have generally been underestimated, especially in comparison with those of Krelj and Dalmatin. However, a more careful analysis shows that it is not possible to agree with such explanations.
In the spirit of Reformation aspirations for the establishment of original Christianity – in accordance with the Gospels without human additions – Trubar strove for the unity of Christianity. On 13 March 1557, in a letter to Heinrich Bullinger, he proposed a platform in which, without renouncing their positions, the Lutherans and Zwinglians could be united; Christ's presence in the Eucharist is a mystery, so there is no reason to quarrel about whether the bread is or only signifies Christ's body. His diplomatically mediated proposal did not meet with great interest, so it remained only historical testimony to the breadth of Trubar's thinking.
