Profesor ruščine, pomorščak in znanstvenik - vizionar kontraadmiral ruske carske mornarice Aleksandr Dmitrijevič Bubnov(1883–1963)

Professor of Russian, Mariner and Scientist – Visionary Rear-admiral of the Rusian Imperial Navy, Aleksander Dmitrijevič Bubnov (1883-1963)

The life and work of the participant of the Russo-Japanese war, admiral of the Russian Imperial Navy, between the two world wars full professor at the Naval Academy of the Yugoslav Royal Navy and after the Second World War, popular professor of Russian at the 1st national gymnasium in Kranj, Aleksander Dmitrijevič Bubnov, are presented as a description of his career and the key events that defined his life path and the lives of members of his family. The stress is on his surpringly exact long-term scientifically based anticipation of events and processes in the Far East, which started with the expansion of Japanese maritime power in the twentieth century and led in 1941 to the Japanese attack on the USA. In the concluding part, the memories of Kranj students of him nd his wife are colourfully presented, as well as the fact that the new »Mother Russia«, which, right up to his death, he firmly believed would be borne again from the ashes of the revolution, in the third millennium recognised him as a great son and, accordingly, each year on the day of his death shows him military honour in Kranj cemetery, where his mortal remains rest.
