GOSPODARSKA POLITIKA KRANJA SKOZI STOLETJA

KRANJ'S ECONOMIC POLICY THROUGHOUT THE CENTURIES

The article takes a look at Kranj's economic policy from the Middle Ages to the radical reforms that were implemented by the new regime in 1945. In the Middle Ages, Kranj's economy was mainly focused on trade and commerce. With the founding of municipalities in the middle of the 19th century, the management of the city's economic policy was passed into the hands of the municipal council. In the second half of the same century, during the first industrialization attempts, the municipality of Kranj received new tasks. After the First World War, the municipality took an active hand in the building of the 'Jugočeška' factory, and supported industrialization in the period between the wars. Kranj had developed into a powerful industrial centre. But as a result of the nationalization and planned economy after the year 1945, we can now no longer talk about a real economy policy for the city.
