GRADNJA STANOVANJ V KRANJU V ŠESTDESETIH LETIH 20. STOLETJA

THE BUILDING OF APARTMENTS IN KRANJ IN THE 1960‘S

After the end of the Second World War, a steady stream of immigrants began settling in Kranj. For several decades, the lack of available apartments was one of the most persistent issues for the municpality and local businesses. Resources and building capabilities were limited and urban planning could not keep up with construction. All businesses had to pay a mandatory contribution to the housing fund, which was used to finance social housing. The 1960‘s saw an increase in housing due to the extensive new projects in the neghbourhoods of Vodovodni stolp and Zlato polje. The number of people seeking apartments kept increasing. As a result of favourable loan interests, many new private houses were also built.
